What is mindfulness?

"Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens", states University of California, Berkley Greater Good Science Center. Mindfulness is all about accepting our thoughts however wild, fast paced, or out of the blue they are. Accepting thoughts as they come, and allowing them to be just thoughts without value and conclusions attached to them can be a strong way to stave off the anxiety that creeps up in most of our busy lives. Often mindfulness practices will suggest noticing your thoughts without judging them through visualization exercises such as pretending your thoughts are clouds passing in a blue sky; not lingering, just passing through your mind.
