Entries need to be made by Friday, February 28, 2025 at 1:00 PM.

 

Awards

Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Competition Rules

1. The interior of the cakes will be styrofoam. Each team will receive a 6 inch and 9 inch round cake forms.  

2. Decorations should be made using fondant, gumpaste, marzipan, royal icing, or any other decorative medium.

3. The contest is open to any JWU student.

4. Students enter as teams of 2 people.

5. Each team is required to submit a portfolio of their cake design, due on March 7. The team must include the title of the entry and any needed supplies.

6. The team must follow the detailed design submitted in the color portfolio.

7. On competition day, the team will have from 8 AM - 12 PM to do the final assembly. 

8. If the team needs to make any advanced decor or figurines which need additional drying time, the team can work on Friday, March 14 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM in lab 252. The team will need to sign up ahead of time with Chef Andrews to do advanced prep work.

Each team is required to submit a color portfolio of their cake design. Here is a link to the cake sketch. Please label each decorative medium in your color sketch. It is due on March 7 by email to Chef Schellie Andrews
