Meet your Librarians: Jean Moats

Meet Jean

Jean Moats is the liasion to College of Culinary Arts. I have worked at Johnson & Wales University since 2004. I live with 6 adorable cats.

2015-2016 schedule

There are many options for meeting with me. And while this is subject to change, this is what I expect my schedule to be this year.

Monday - 8 am to 4 pm

Tuesday - 8 am to 4 pm

Wednesday - 8 am to 4 pm

Thursday -8 am to 4 pm

Friday - 9 am to 4 pm

Collection Management/Reference Librarian

  • Instruction - Teaching students information literacy (research) skills.  You may see me in your classroom!
  • Tutorials/LibGuides - Creating tutorials, class and subject guides to help you with the research process.
  • Reference - I can help you with all your research needs - visit me at the Information Desk.
  • Check Out - Need  to check out or return a book, check on a Reserve book or pay a fine? I can help you with that too!
  • Resources Needed - I can purchase resources for your classes.
  • Cataloging - I am the one who helps you find things in the library catalog.
  • Culinary Math - I can help students with culinary math questions.


Bachelor's Degree: I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Home Economics from Otterbein College (University) in Westerville, Ohio in 1985. I minored in Business Administration.

Master's Degree: I completed a Masters of Divinity from Duke University Divinity in Durham, North Carolina in 1989.

Associate's Degree: I earned an associates degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1998.

Master's Degree: While working full-time, I completed a Masters in Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2003.
